The big ones

Suitland (9-1) at Flowers (9-1)
Saturday, Nov. 14, 1 p.m.
These two teams played arguably the best game of the year during their first meeting. Suitland receiver Lavern Jacobs caught a touchdown pass in overtime as the Rams defeated the Jaguars, 21-20. But many Flowers coaches and players believe Jacobs didn't actually make the catch. Both teams enter the game with potent running attacks, but the Suitland passing attack could be the difference in what should be another close game.

Roosevelt (6-4) at Wise (9-1)
Saturday, Nov. 14, 1 p.m.
Roosevelt will be looking to exact a little revenge against a Pumas team that held them to six points and knocked them out of the playoffs a year ago. Wise was humbled against Charles H. Flowers, 14-12, last week after yielding just seven points through the first nine games of the season. The Pumas' defense surrendered 202 yards on the ground against Flowers and will need to tighten up again against the Raiders.

Gonzaga (D.C.) at DeMatha (10-0)
Friday, Nov. 13, 7 p.m.
DeMatha heads into the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference playoffs confident it can win a seventh consecutive title. The Stags will have to contend with athletic Eagles quarterback Kevin Hogan, who tossed three touchdowns in the teams' regular season meeting (a 48-23 Stags victory), and is generally considered one of the best athletes in the conference. Stags' coach Bill McGregor said his team is heading into the postseason in great health.

McNamara (8-2) at Good Counsel
Friday, Nov. 13, 7 p.m.
McNamara got all of the reassurance it needed, ironically, in the team's only two losses this season. The Mustangs felt they let themselves down in their losses to DeMatha and Good Counsel. Senior running back Hannibal Robinson may play after missing the last two games with a quadriceps injury. The Mustangs will need a nearly flawless effort to win on the road. In its last four road games against Good Counsel, McNamara has been outscored by 132 points.
