Ballenger Crossing, Frederick
Quiet neighborhood within walking distance of shopping

Located just off of Ballenger Creek Parkway, the community of Ballenger Crossing offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Diana Booth, who manages the community for Association Management Services, described it is a very family-oriented community in a country setting. The neighborhood offers a mix of single family homes and townhomes. The Single family homes are generally two-story colonials, with three or four bedrooms, situated on 1/4 –acre lots. The townhomes generally have two or three bedrooms.

Teresa Ward was one of the original residents of Ballenger Crossing. She said that she loves the community because it’s quiet and small. “And we have really awesome neighbors. We get together all the time,” said Ward.

Brian Klein, president of the Ballenger Crossing Homeowners Association, said he moved to the neighborhood about four years ago. “We chose this neighborhood because it’s convenient to my wife’s job in Frederick,” he said. Although he works in Silver Spring, he loves his commute. “I take the MARC train. It beats driving any day.”

Access to major highways, including Interstate 270, 70, 40 and 15 are just a couple of minutes away, making a variety of restaurants, gas stations, businesses and entertainment outlets easily accessible. Klein said, “It is very easy on and off of the highways and everything is really convenient.”

Ward added, “I love that we have grocery stores within walking distance. And technically Westview Promenade is within walking distance, too,” she said. “What’s really nice about it is that it gives the teenagers something to do. There’s fast food, there’s nice restaurants and there’s movie theaters.”

Children residing in Ballenger Crossing attend Frederick County Schools. Ballenger Creek Elementary School, Ballenger Creek Middle School and Tuscarora High School are all located within walking distance of the community. Ward said, “My two children went to all three schools and we were absolutely happy with all three of them.”

Ballenger Creek Park is located just across the street from the community and offers a variety of amenities including a seven-mile nature trail, several soccer and ball fields, volleyball nets, horseshoe pits, playgrounds, picnic shelters, picnic tables and grills. “It’s really pretty. We walk at the park all the time,” said Klein.

The BCHOA consists of an eight-member board and is responsible for maintenance of the common grounds and enforcing the community's governing documents. HOA meetings are held monthly and all members of the community are welcome to attend.
