Barrie School drama division presents 'Oklahoma'

Barrie Drama, the Performing Arts Division of Barrie School, will present "Oklahoma" at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and May 2, 3 and 4 and 2 p.m. Sunday at the school, 13500 Layhill Road.

'Paws in the Park' on Sunday at Wheaton Regional

Seminar on Internet safety

at Einstein

A free seminar, "Internet Safety: Protecting Children When They're Online," will be held 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Einstein High School, 11135 Newport Mill Road. Detective Mike Parker of Montgomery County Police and Virginia Ceaser from the Metropolitan Center for Assault Prevention will emphasize the importance of Internet safety for middle school students. Fund-raisers to benefit

Blake post-prom party

Two fund-raisers at area restaurants will be held to benefit Blake High School's After-Prom celebration May 17. Today from 5 to 10 p.m., First Sole d' Italia Restaurant on Route 108 in Ashton will donate 10 percent of all dine-in and take-out proceeds.

In addition, Jerry's Subs and Pizza, 18100 Georgia Ave. in Olney, will donate 10 percent of all dine-in and take-out proceeds from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 1.

Car sale at Edison

Montgomery County Students Automotive Trades Foundation will hold its final car sale for the school year 9 to 11 a.m. May 11 at Thomas Edison High School of Technology, 12601 Dalewood Drive.

Automotive body and automotive technology students from Damascus, Thomas Edison and Gaithersburg high schools refurbish these cars as part of their curriculum. For more information and a list of the cars available, call 301-929-2190.

Student excellence

Jennifer Dasch, a graduate of Albert Einstein High School, has been named to the dean's list of Johns Hopkins University for the fall 2001 semester. Dasch is majoring in computer sciences.

Softball tournament

at Wheaton Regional Park

The Rachel A. Wims Hall of Fame Classic will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Wheaton Regional Park. The event includes AA and A division men's fastpitch softball teams from Maryland, D.C, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and New Jersey. The tournament is sponsored by Fitzgerald Dodge-Suzuki of Wheaton; Sportsplex Clinics; Federal Lock & Safe; NAFA; Greater Washington Fastpitch Hall of Fame; Wheaton-Kensington Chamber of Commerce; and Montgomery County Department of Recreation.

ShelterWalk for Homeless

at Brookside Gardens

The Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless will sponsor the sixth annual ShelterWalk for the homeless at 4 p.m. May 5 at Brookside Gardens, 1800 Glenallan Ave.

Walkers are asked to get pledges or make a donation of at least $20. All proceeds will benefit the homeless. Registration for the walk begins at 3 p.m. Music, family activities, and refreshments will take place before and after the walk.

M-NCPPC to open

75th anniversary exhibit

The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) welcomes residents, businesses and families to enjoy a "then and now" exhibit on the commission's 75-year history that will open Friday at the Brookside Gardens Visitor Center, 1800 Glenallan Ave.

The exhibit, "75 Years: Turning Visions Into Reality," features historic and current photos, maps and artwork and depicts projects, programs, facilities and milestones. The exhibit will be on display daily through May 27.

Vendors, crafters needed

for International Festival

Multicultural exhibitors, crafters, food vendors and marching units are needed for the third annual International Festival to be held for the first time in Wheaton June 9 on Price, Elkin and Fern streets. Call the Montgomery County Recreation Department at 240-777-6821.

Make-A-Wish Triathlon May 19

The annual Make-A-Wish Triathlon will be held May 19 at Martin Luther King Jr. Park, 1120 Jackson Road. Children ages 5-14 will compete in swim-bike-run and run-bike-run events.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic is a non-profit organization that fulfills the wishes of area children fighting life-threatening illnesses.

Spring musical at Einstein

Search is on for youth bands

Community Concerts of Olney is planning its third Olney MusicFest to be held July 13 and is soliciting youth bands. Bands should appeal to a teenage audience and preference will be given to bands with Montgomery County middle and high school student members.

Bands should forward the name of the band, type of music, names, ages and schools of members, band point of contact, phone number, email and demo (CD preferred) to: Bruce McIndoe, Olney MusicFest 2002, 2101 Viewpoint Court, Brookeville, MD 20833.
