Dec. 28, 2001

All retail space at the new Bowie Town Center is now leased, and all stores should be open by the end of 2002, the Simon Property Group said.

As the holiday season brought busy sales for the already-open stores at Bowie Town Center, nine additional stores and restaurants have joined the December bustle of this "main street-style" shopping center, the mall owner announced in a news release. Nine additional stores are expected to open in early 2002.

With a total of 86 stores and restaurants, Bowie Town Center expects all tenant sites to be open and fully operational by the end of 2002. The mall's grand opening was in November.

"We're excited to be 100 percent leased for all retail space at Bowie Town Center," David Gott, mall manager, said in the news release. "And judging by the traffic we're seeing this holiday season, our newly open stores should enjoy a busy shopping season,"

Among the stores opening in December are national sandwich chains Subway and Quizno's Classic Subs and regionally recognized Next Day Blinds. Local merchants include Bowie Town Barber, bNatural salon and day spa, Strawberry's Bistro, Comcare Pharmacy, Coach Cleaners and Bowie Tailor.

Opening in early 2002 are Hair Cuttery, locally owned Illusions Hair Salon, a branch of Chevy Chase Bank, Best Buy, a "next generation" Safeway, Olive Garden, Pizzeria Uno, Longhorn Steak House and Chicken Out Rotisserie.

Bowie Town Barber is a community-oriented shop offering basic barber services. Bowie Tailor and Coach Cleaners will take care of both men's and women's clothing needs.

bNatural is a salon and day spa opening its first location to serve a "pent-up demand for upscale amenities," owner Angela Black said in the news release.

Comcare Pharmacy, operated by Marie-Therese Oyalow, is also opening its first location in Bowie Town Center.

Bowie resident Rosalyn Doaks said she was excited about opening Strawberry's Bistro, an upscale/casual restaurant with a European café ambience. Strawberry's Bistro will feature contemporary American cuisine with a European flair, as well as a specialty martini bar.

Bowie Town Center is owned and operated by Simon Property Group Inc., the largest publicly traded retail real estate company in North America. Simon Property Group, headquartered in Indianapolis owns or has an interest in 251 shopping centers in 36 states and six assets in Europe and Canada.
