If you felt a familiar connection with a TV Guide magazine this week, it was probably because a former Bowie resident was gracing its cover.

Josh "J.C." Chasez, 23, of the wildly popular music group 'N Sync appeared on one of the magazine's covers for the April 1-7 edition. Each of the five group members was featured individually on different covers of the magazine, which has 11 million subscribers and 34 million weekly readers.

J.C.'s parents, Roy and Karen Chasez, have lived in Bowie for 12 years. "What he's doing is really normal to us," Roy Chasez said. He said he learned of the TV Guide cover when his youngest son, Tyler, a student at Bowie High School, brought it home.

Although the family is proud of its famous member, "after so many years of that, we don't go out and buy every magazine," Roy Chasez said.

J.C. has been in the business for 10 years, his father said. He was a Mouseketeer on the Disney Channel's "Mickey Mouse Club" with future fellow band member Justin Timberlake and current teen sensation Britney Spears.

'N Sync's media tour has landed the group on MTV, "The Tonight Show" and the recent Academy Awards broadcast. But J.C., says his father, still makes time to come home to Bowie about five times a year, "and more if he can."

"We try to keep it somewhat quiet" to give J.C. a chance to take a break when he's in town, Roy Chasez said. His primary residence is in Orlando, Fla.

Their new release, "No Strings Attached," debuted March 21 at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. The group sold 2.4 million copies in its first week of release, including more than 1 million copies the first day.
