Deb Randall and the folks at the Venus Theatre in Laurel put on powerful shows season after season that speak of the courage and strength of woman and children. Their latest show, “We Are Samurai,” is no different.
Written by Daria Miyuki Marinelli, the play is the 49th show to be produced at the Venus Theatre. And it’s a doozy of a show, too.
The play will take place in five different locations in and around the theater. It’s up to the audience to figure out where they want to go and what they want to watch. Scenes happen simultaneously.
Marinelli is a descendant of the samurai and was inspired by her family to look into the idea of honor and revenge, which are both prominent in the show.
The show opens Sept. 4 and runs Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 3 p.m. through the month of September. Tickets for the show are $20. For more information, visit venustheatre.org.
