Two new shops opened June 9 on New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park.

McDoris Fashion and Fabric is at 7635 New Hampshire Ave. It relocated there from Washington, D.C. “because of the area’s international flavor and large African customer base,” the Takoma/Langley Crossroads Development Authority said in a press release.

“I could have opened my store at other, less costly locations but I wanted to be near Red Apple Farmers Market,” owner Doris Agbasi is quoted saying in the news release.

Julie’s Hair Salon 2 opened at 7489 New Hampshire Ave.

Hairstylist Julie Marcal was briefly retired, following the sale of her salon at Hampshire-Langley Center last November, but returned with a new business “because of the area’s international clientele,” a news release from the development authority says.
