Numerous sites throughout Prince George’s County will host firework displays for residents to safely celebrate Fourth of July weekend.
Mark E. Brady, chief spokesman for Prince George’s County Fire and EMS, said eight sites will present fireworks beginning around 9 p.m.
Trinity Assembly of God in Lanham will host fireworks on July 3 and University of Maryland, College Park; Greenbelt; District Heights; Bowie and Morningside will present their shows on Friday.
Laurel will present during a daylong celebration beginning at 11 a.m. and ending with fireworks around 9:15 p.m. Saturday.
Hundreds to thousands of people are expected to attend the numerous events, Brady said.
Each event has been granted a permit to conduct the presentations and consumer purchased fireworks are illegal in Prince George’s County, Brady said. Penalties can result in a fine of up to $1,000 and six months in jail.
Brady said he encourages the community to come out and enjoy the various spectacles.
“It’s a day of celebration for our nation’s independence and some of the best fireworks are done by professionals that are listed for the municipal events,” Brady said.
