The Women’s Board Scholarship Program has awarded $70,000 in scholarships to 41 high school, undergraduate and graduate degree students studying health care.

Each year, the Women’s Board, which supports MedStar Montgomery Medical Center in Olney, raises funds through its Gifts of Light Program, thrift shop, gift shop, and picnic and bazaar.

The high school award recipients are Steffani Carrera, Ifunanya Dallah, Cathleen Ho, Rasha Iqbal, Kaitlyn Kalnoske, Belinda Mensah, Mary Molloy, Colleen Morris, Bhakti Patel, Chrysanthi Siarkas, Donnel Thomas, Nicole Toven and Singiti Weerasuriya.

The undergraduate and graduate degree recipients are Patrick An, Prabhleen Aneja, Enma Ascosi, Nakita Braboy, Alexa Ciensinski, Raven Daaku, Megan Dang, Cynthia Davis, Suella Halloran, Kathlyn Hermann, Donald Hong, Maria House, Angelina Johny, Gurleen Kaur, Caroline Kimble, Heather Konstanzer, Beemnet Neway, Oluwatoyin Ottun, Karishima Patel, Carleen Phillip, Carmen Polanco, Rena Rai, Bridgette Schulze, Ann Serafenas, Alan Skolnik, Zoe Travers and Robel Wondimu.

In 1957, the Jean Bird Scholarship Program was created, named after the wife of Dr. Jacob Wheeler Bird, the hospital’s founder. In 1969, the Women’s Board assumed responsibility for the scholarship fund.
