Findlay Prep of Henderson International, otherwise known as Findlay Prep. is a college basketball preparatory program in Henderson, Nev.
Since 2010, four players from Findlay Prep have gone on to be drafted by NBA franchises, including Anthony Bennett, the first overall pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers in last year’s NBA Draft, and Boston Celtics guard Avery Bradley.
Perhaps this knowledge was a factor in the decision made by former Montrose Christian player Allonzo Trier to take his talents to Findlay Prep.
“My family and I have decided that I will transfer to Findlay Prep and play for coach Andy Johnson,” Trier announced on his Twitter account last week. “I want my senior year to be very special. I look forward to building an amazing future with my coaches and team at Findlay Prep!”
The 2013-14 Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year will be transferring after just one season with Montrose Christian and coach Bryan Bartley.
In that one season, which also happened to be Bartley’s first, the 6-foot-5 guard averaged 24.9 points and helped the Mustangs win the National Christian Schools Athletic Association title.
“I would like to give much thanks and gratitude to coach Bryan Bartley, coach Vernon, and coach Whittmore of Montrose Christian,” Trier wrote. “Montrose Christian and those three coaches helped me grow as a person and player and have been a big part of my maturation this past year.”
Prior to moving to Maryland and attending Montrose Christian, Trier lived in Oklahoma City.
