Twelve adults had to be hospitalized for minor injuries Monday from a crash involving two vans in Silver Spring.

The crash was reported at around 1 p.m. in the 9600 block of New Hampshire Avenue, in the northbound lanes near Oakview Drive, according to Montgomery County police and Montgomery County Fire & Rescue officials.

Pete Piringer, an MCFRS spokesman, said the crash victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at three regional hospitals.

Piringer said one of the vehicles involved was a passenger van carrying 10 people.

The circumstances behind the crash were unclear. Montgomery County police spokeswoman Blanca Kling said Tuesday that details from the accident report were not yet available.
