A 31-year-old athletic coach and private tutor from Germantown pleaded guilty Thursday to sexually abusing a teen girl.

In exchange for the plea, attorneys will ask the judge to sentence Daniel M. Sirotkin to no more than nine years in prison, according to a plea agreement signed by Assistant State’s Attorney Ryan Wechsler and Sirotkin’s attorney, Gary H. Gerstenfield.

“He takes full responsibility and appreciates the support of the community,” Gerstenfield said.

Sirotkin pleaded guilty to three criminal offenses— sexually abusing a minor, third-degree sex offense and soliciting a minor to produce child pornography.

A teen girl said that Sirotkin molested her between 2011 and 2013. The teen said she was 14 when the abuse began, according to court filings.

Sirotkin, a former wrestler for Harvard University, coached for the independent wrestling club Viking Mat Club. He also had worked as a substitute teacher at Lakelands Park Middle School in Gaithersburg, The Gazette reported.

Gerstenfield said the abuse did not occur at a school.

Circuit Judge Richard E. Jordan scheduled sentencing for Aug. 6.
