The Capital Region Educators of Dance Organization — a state affiliate of the National Dance Education Organization — announced that Robin Auerswald, a senior at Sandy Spring Friends School, was recently selected as a state-level Silver Winner and Finalist of the 2014 NDEO Artistic Merit, Leadership, and Academic Achievement Award.

This is the school’s first year as an institutional member of the National Dance Education Association’s Dance Honor Society.

Upper School dance teacher Hannah Kerr nominated Auerswald for the prestigious award within the Honor Society.

Auerswald, of Silver Spring, is one of the two top candidates from Maryland to progress to the national level. The winners will be announced later this month.

She plans to attend George Mason University next year and major in dance.

Kerr, of Brookeville, also was recognized by the organization for outstanding teaching, leadership, and guidance shown to Auerswald and her fellow students.
