In a service of hope and remembrance, friends and family of crime victims gathered in Rockville Sunday for the 25th Annual Maryland Statewide Memorial Services for Crime Victims and Their Families.

The memorial service, titled “The Love a Heart Holds Dear,” is meant to give hope and honor Maryland’s murdered and missing crime victims, according to The Maryland State Board of Victim Services.

There were four memorial services held throughout the state — in Calvert, Worcester and Montgomery counties and Baltimore City.

As a part of every service, family members and advocate volunteers read the names of more than 2,000 Maryland homicide, vehicular manslaughter, and other crime victims.
