Friday marks the start of an expanded series of Bowie Town Center’s Friday Night Live concerts, free shows that feature family entertainment from local bands and musicians.
The concerts take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Fridays at Bowie Town Center’s Food Court Pavilion, 15606 Emerald Way, said Cristina Montanez, area director of mall marketing. This year’s concert series will run from April to Oct. 24, excluding July 4, which is an expanded number of shows compared to last year’s August to October schedule, Montanez said.
Patio seating will be available but limited, so concert-goers are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs, she said.
“We’ve been able to get a lot of local bands that live and work in Bowie,” Montanez said. “Come and sit and enjoy family time with good entertainment.”
The first concert will feature the Bowie’s Split2nd Band, which plays classic rock, said Mario Barroga, of Bowie and guitar player in the band.
Different bands will play each week and it helps residents in the area learn about their local music, Barroga said.
“It is early enough on a Friday that families are still out and about and shopping and get to listen to live music,” Barroga said.
