Prince George’s County police have arrested an Upper Marlboro man in connection with a homicide Saturday in Seat Pleasant.

Archie Singleton, 43, of the 14000 block of Lord Marlboro Place in Upper Marlboro, is charged with second-degree murder after he allegedly shot Donald Campbell, 55, of the 6500 block of Adak Street in Seat Pleasant at about 7:05 p.m. March 15, said police spokesman Lt. William Alexander.

Police said they responded to the 6500 block of Central Avenue in Seat Pleasant, at an automotive business, where they found Campbell suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, Alexander said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Alexander, Singleton has admitted to his involvement in the shooting although the motive is still under investigation. Singleton is an employee of the automotive business where the homicide took place and he was found at the scene with a handgun and arrested after questioning, Alexander said.

Campbell was not an employee of the business but he was an acquaintance of Singleton’s, Alexander said.

Singleton has yet to be assigned a lawyer, according to online Maryland court records. He is in custody with the Department of Corrections, Alexander said.
