The Patuxent Wildlife Refuge held a birthday bash for the National Wildlife Refuge System Saturday.

The National Wildlife Reguge System is considered to have begun in March 1903, when President Theodore Roosevelt declared Pelican Island in Florida to be the first national wildlife preserve.

Patuxent’s celebration included animal exhibits, lessons, music, interactive displays and more.
