Drama club students at Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda will present “Lord of the Flies,” a production of the novel by William Golding. The production will be performed with both with an all-male and an all-female cast.

The production will fuse art forms, text, drama, fight movement, acrobatics, dance and music along with imaginative lighting, sound and multimedia effects.

Exploring traits such as savage instinct, masculinity, rage and jealousy, Whitman Drama will be staging two different shows. Boys and girls will use the same script and staging, but the actors’ delivery of the lines and the meaning behind the words, together with the simple fact that boys and girls react differently in any given situation, will be the biggest distinction.

Performances by the male cast will be at 7 p.m. Thursday and Saturday; the female cast will perform at 7 p.m. Friday and at 2 p.m. Sunday, both in the Whitman auditorium, 7100 Whittier Blvd.

The play is rated 13-plus for violence and language.

Tickets cost $10 for students, $15 for adults and $20 for reserved seating. They can be purchased online at whitmandrama.ticketleap.com or by emailing whitmandramatickets@gmail.com. The box office is open from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, where only cash and checks are accepted.
