College Park will restructure the management of its farmers’ market for the 2014 season and will shortly be accepting applications for an on-site market manager.
The previous “market master,” Virginia-based KSM Marketing & Events, announced last year that it would not return for the upcoming season.
Under the new management structure, city staff will oversee marketing and vendor recruitment, while Michael Stiefvater, the market’s economic development coordinator, said he will handle other preparations.
The city plans to hire an on-site manager for the downtown College Park farmers’ market as well as the Hollywood Farmers Market location on Rhode Island Ave, which had previously been managed by volunteers, Stiefvater said.
Stiefvater said his goal for the upcoming market season, which will begin in April, is to attract more vendors and visitors.
“The market has grown a little bit each year,” he said. “[The goal is to] keep that trajectory growing.”
