Denise and Kenneth Shaw of Bryantown announce the engagement of their daughter, Amanda Rae, to Mark Adam Matthews, son of Randi Royder of Lancaster, Texas, and John and Jill Matthews of Ovilla, Texas.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Rae Costanzo and the late Joseph E. Costanzo Sr. of Mechanicsville and the late Doris G. and Robert F. Shaw of Clinton.

She graduated from La Plata High School in 2005 and received a bachelor’s of science in engineering physics in 2009 from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla.

She will graduate in May from Johns Hopkins University Whiting School of Engineering with a master’s of science in systems engineering.

She is employed as a senior systems engineer by The MITRE Corporation, Center for Advanced Aviation System Development in McLean, Va.

The groom-to-be graduated from Midlothian High School in 2006, and received a bachelor’s of science in emergency administration and management in 2009 from Arkansas Tech University and a master’s of science in engineering management in 2011 from George Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science.

He is employed as a senior analyst at Man-Machine Systems Assessment Incorporated in Washington, D.C.

A 2015 wedding is planned.
