Snow didn’t stop the Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce’s annual Holiday Mixer and Silent Auction, which took place on Jan. 14 after weather forced cancellation of the event’s original Dec. 10 date.

The event featured drinks and food, along with a silent auction of goods ranging from gift baskets to an autographed Washington Redskins football. The auction was a success, with almost all of the goods sold during the evening, said Kelly Pierce, Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce executive director.

“We had a big crowd, over a hundred,” Pierce said. “Everybody had a good time.”

Pierce said the money earned through the silent auction hasn’t been counted yet. That money is collected each year to fund the chamber’s scholarships and other programs, she said.
