Lord & Taylor continues to fight the proposed redevelopment of White Flint Mall.
A U.S. District Court judge recently dismissed part of a lawsuit filed by the department store, which had sued the mall in July 2013.
Lerner Enterprises, which owns White Flint Mall, plans to tear down most of the mall to make way for a mixed-use development project. The plans called for Lord & Taylor to remain in place while redevelopment was going on, but the department store says that would hurt its business and violate its contract with the mall.
On Dec. 20, Judge Roger W. Titus denied Lord & Taylor’s request for an injunction to prevent the redevelopment, but Lord & Taylor said in a Dec. 24 court filing that it will appeal the ruling.
Titus also dismissed a counterclaim that White Flint Mall had filed against Lord & Taylor.
The Washington Business Journal reported on the appeal Thursday. A few days before Christmas, The Washington Post ran an article on the mall’s history and some of the redevelopment plans, declaring it “almost dead.”
