Montgomery County Police were searching the Woodmont Triangle area Thursday afternoon for a man who robbed a M&T Bank in the Bethesda area and implied he had a gun.

Around 4:37 p.m., a call from the bank at 7920 Norfolk Ave. alerted police to the incident in which the man obtained cash.

The man, police believe, is in his late 30s or early 40s, about 5-foot-6 or 5-foot-7, and sporting a tan baseball cap, blue jeans, a possibly gray sweater and stubble on his face, said Ana Quintanilla, a 911 supervisor for county police.

“A gun was implied,” she said. “However, it was not seen.”

Quintanilla said the man was last seen on foot on Cordell Avenue heading away from Norfolk Avenue.

Police, including K-9 units, were searching the area as of around 5:20 p.m., she said.
