The northbound local lanes on I-270 that were closed due to an overturned U.S. Postal Service truck in Gaithersburg have been reopened, according to Maryland State Police.
The truck overturned around 7:23 a.m. on northbound I-270 north of I-370, said Shay Cunningham, a state police communications operator.
Traffic used the right shoulder to get around the incident, Cunningham said.
Police have also reopened both the entrance from Shady Grove to I-270 and the entrance from eastbound I-370, which they had previously blocked.
The driver of the truck was not injured, Cunningham said. State police don’t yet know what caused the truck to overturn.
No other vehicles were involved.
Cunningham said the postal service sent two other delivery trucks to collect the mail that was in the truck that overturned, some of which had spilled onto the roadway.
