Four people have been arrested and charged with a slew of daytime burglaries in Germantown and Gaithersburg that took place in October and November, Gaithersburg City Police said Friday.
According to police, Kevin Guzman-Arevalo, 18, of Alliston Hollow Way in Gaithersburg; Ervin Halilaj, 25, of Doxdam Terrace in Germantown; and two other Gaithersburg teenagers, were behind burglaries at 11 apartments in complexes on Lee Street and Park Avenue.
The two teenagers, ages 16 and 17, have not been identified because they are being charged as juveniles, Gaithersburg City Police Ofc. Dan Lane said.
A call to Halilaj’s home Friday was not answered. Contact information for Guzman-Arevalo was not immediately available Friday afternoon.
All four people were charged with burglary and theft, according to Gaithersburg police.
“Everybody played a role,” Lane said of the suspected burglars.
Doors to the homes they allegedly burglarized were either unlocked, or the residents of the homes did not fasten a second lock on the door, he said.
Police focused on the four as suspects in mid-November, but didn’t locate two of the men until Friday, when they were arrested, Lane said.
Halilaj faces 16 counts of theft and burglary, and was being held on $100,000 bail, online court records show.
Guzman-Arevalo has been charged with 22 burglary and conspiracy charges. He also was being held on $100,000 bail.
Lawyers for the two men were not listed online.
