The holiday season kicks off this weekend at the Fair Hill shopping center in Olney.
A holiday festival will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday featuring a tree-lighting, photos with Santa, hot chocolate, and performances by the Figgy Pudding Carolers and the Blue Sky Puppet Theatre. Merchants will offer crafts and other activities.
At 5 p.m. Sunday, Chabad of Olney will host its second annual menorah lighting at Fair Hill. The event will include fresh doughnuts and latkes, crafts, live music, Hanukkah gelt and dreidels, and a dreidel mascot. The public can help to build a “can-orah” by bringing canned foods, which will be donated to nonprofit Olney Help.
The shopping center is at Md. 108 and Spartan Road.
