This story was corrected on Nov. 18, 2013. An explanation follows the story.

U.S. Marshals have arrested and charged a Fairfax County man with sexually abusing a 3-month-old.

According to Fairfax County police, Jason Rouse, 21, of the Falls Church area of Fairfax County, has been charged with sexual battery of a minor, object sexual penetration of a minor and forcible sodomy.

Police allege Rouse “targeted a 3-month-old baby within Fairfax County” for these crimes on June 2.

According to Fairfax County Police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell, arrest warrants were issued for Rouse on Oct. 31 after a four-month investigation. Caldwell did not disclose the exact relationship between Rouse and the infant, except to say “they are known to each other,”

On Nov. 4, police requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service’s fugitive task force within the federal Eastern District of Virginia to determine Rouse’s whereabouts.

U.S. Marshal Robert Mathieson said U.S. Marshals quickly gathered intelligence suggesting that Rouse was living with a family member on 213th Street in Queens Village, N.Y.

On Nov. 12, deputy marshals in Virginia contacted their counterparts in New York for assistance in apprehending Rouse.

According to Mathieson, at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Nov. 14, U.S. Marshal deputies and task force officers observed a person matching the height and weight description of Rouse exiting the Queens Village residence in a jacket and face mask that only showed his eyes. Investigators approached and stopped him for identification purposes. Marshals then identified the person as Rouse and apprehended him without incident. Rouse awaits extradition to Fairfax County. No attorney information is yet available.
