A Mechanicsville man remained in St. Mary’s jail without bond on Monday following his arrest last week in Ohio, according to detectives who obtained burglary and assault charges against the suspect from an alleged break-in last winter at a Leonardtown home.

Matthew Scott Hurry, 27, also was charged with two sex-offender registry violations.

Sheriff’s deputies investigated the March 19 burglary complaint in Leonardtown, where the home’s occupant said the front door was forced open and property was stolen during an ensuing attack, according to detectives. The investigators learned earlier this month that Hurry was living in Nelsonville, Ohio, where law officers in that jurisdiction subsequently located and arrested him, and St. Mary’s detectives went there last Thursday to take custody of the suspect after he waived his right to contest extradition.
