Rain continued to soak Montgomery County, causing a power outage for about 650 Pepco customers Friday and causing at least one road closure in the area due to a fallen tree.

Hundreds of Pepco customers lost power Friday afternoon when a tree brought down utility lines along Darnestown Road.

According to a Pepco spokesperson, about 650 customers have lost power in the Gaithersburg and Darnestown areas as a result of the downed tree.

The outage began around 12:30 p.m. The utility expects power to be restored around 4 p.m., but the estimate could change, the spokesperson said.
