An Upper Marlboro high school student has been selected to join the National Society of High School Scholars.
Nicovia Carter, a student at Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro, was selected to join the organization based on her leadership, scholarship and community commitment, according to a National Society of High School Scholars news release. Carter will enjoy scholarship opportunities, free events and members-only resources as part of her induction to the organization, according to the news release. Students must apply for acceptance into the society.
The National Society of High School Scholars was created in 2002 to recognize high school academic excellence, and there are about 830,000 members in more than 160 countries, according to the news release.
