NBC 4 consumer reporter Liz Crenshaw suggests the proper tidy sum.
Question: How much and how often should you tip housekeeping for cleaning your hotel room?
Answer: We turned to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine for this answer. It suggests leaving two to five dollars each morning before you head out of the hotel room. That’s because a different person may be cleaning your room each day.. so you should tip a few dollars each day for the various housekeepers who will be cleaning your room. Kiplinger’s also suggests making it obvious that the cash you leave is a tip by leaving the money in an envelope marked “housekeeping.”
