The Communications and Performing Arts Department of Montgomery College – Takoma/Silver Spring will present Alain Nu – The Man Who Knows — for two performances on Saturday at the Cultural Arts Center in Silver Spring.

Billed as “an evening of the mind,” Nu, star of the TLC television series, “The Mysterious World of Alan Nu,” will invite audiences to explore how all humans are connected through energy via awe-inspiring demonstrations that tread the line separating science and phenomena.

In Prince George’s County, the mysteries of the blues prevail as the Bluebird Blues Festival returns to Prince George’s Community College. The annual celebration, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, attracts an average of 12,000 music-lovers each years with its promise of national and regional blues acts doing what they do best on two distinct stages. In Fairfax, The McLean Community Players will kick off its 2013-14 seasons with “Time Stands Still,” a drama surrounding the lives of foreign correspondents and photojournalists. The show, written by Donald Margulies and directed by Jessie Roberts, will run at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays, to Oct. 5, at the Alden Theatre, 1234 Ingleside Drive, McLean.
