The Cancer Prevention Study-3 is a grass-roots effort in which communities across the country support cancer research by participating in a research study. The purpose of the study is to better understand the lifestyle, behavioral, environmental and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer, and ultimately to eliminate cancer.

Men and women ages 30 to 65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer are eligible to participate. Local enrollment is being made possible in partnership with MedStar Montgomery Medical Center in Olney.

Initial enrollment requires completion of an online survey and an appointment. Enrollment will take place from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7 and from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 9 at the hospital’s community learning center, 18101 Prince Phillip Drive, Olney.

Following enrollment, participants will periodically receive mailed surveys at home every few years to update information.

More information about the project is at cancer.org/cps3, or by emailing cps3@cancer.org or calling 888-604-5888.
