A search for three attempted robbery suspects temporarily led to Bowie area schools being placed on lockdown Friday morning.

The lockdown for schools including Holy Trinity Episcopal Day School in Bowie and Glenn Dale Elementary School ended around 11 a.m., but Prince George’s County police continue searching for the suspects — one of whom allegedly fired a gun — in an attempted robbery in Glenn Dale.

Officer Nicole Hubbard, a county police spokeswoman, said at around 8:40 a.m., a man was walking his dog along the 5400 block of Epponians Choice Drive when he was approached by three men.

Hubbard said one of the suspects revealed a gun and demanded the man’s possessions.

“The man declined and the suspects ran from the scene, but one of the suspects fired at the victim who was not hit or harmed,” Hubbard said.

Bowie police assisted county officers, said Dwayne Preston, Bowie police deputy chief.

“We just wanted to make sure everyone was aware and to eliminate any concern,” Preston said.
