Hope Connections for Cancer Support, a Bethesda nonprofit dedicated to helping people with cancer and their loved ones deal with the emotional and physical impact of the disease, has hired Laurie Kaye Schwartz as its new office manager and volunteer coordinator.

Schwartz started her career as an engineer before turning to teaching and nonprofit work. She has been a foster parent to several homeless young adults, worked for more than 10 years with Habitat for Humanity and volunteered at Tanglewood Music Center. A longtime resident of Western Massachusetts, Schwartz recently returned to Bethesda, where she was born and grew up.
