A woman hit by a car as she crossed Georgia Avenue Thursday has died from her injuries this morning.

Barbara Jean Green, age 70, of Washington, DC, was attempting to walk across the northbound lanes of Georgia Avenue in a marked crosswalk at Henderson Avenue about 2 p.m. Thursday, according to Montgomery County Police Officer Janelle Smith. Miriam Rose Parizer, 91, of the 15300 block of Pine Orchard Drive in Silver Spring, was driving north on Georgia Avenue in the Honda Accord that struck her, police said.

Green was taken to Suburban Hospital, where her condition deteriorated, and she died early this morning, according to Smith.

Parizer and her passenger, Eva Maria Burger, 88, of the 3300 block of N. Leisure World Boulevard in Silver Spring were not injured in the accident.

The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620. Callers may remain anonymous.

Also, Thursday, a 14-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle on Veirs Mill Road just before 3 p.m., according to Smith.

The teen was taken to a local hospital and is being treated, she said. Smith said Friday the teen is expected to survive.
