A Fairfax County swim coach has been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery after the mother of a 7-year-old girl told police her daughter reported being inappropriately touched.

Fairfax County police said they received the complaint on July 3 from the mother, alleging that her daughter had been inappropriately touched on several occasions. Police said detectives began an investigation, and on Monday charged Eduardo Requejo, 23, of Warwick Drive in Fairfax with two counts of aggravated sexual battery. Police said Requejo turned himself in to police at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Requejo has worked as a swimming instructor at the Oak Marr Recreation Center in Fairfax since 2005, said Fairfax County Park Authority spokeswoman Judy Pedersen.

The facility is one of several recreation centers run by the Fairfax County Park Authority.

Requejo has also worked as a swim coach throughout the Fairfax community, according to police.

“He has coached at other Fairfax County facilities, but primarily worked at the Oak Marr center,” Pedersen said.

Pedersen said Requejo is currently not scheduled to teach or coach any swim classes at any county facility in the near future, and that to her knowledge he has never had any previous complaints lodged against him as a swim coach. “We do background checks on all our prospective employees,” she added.

Police said the alleged incidents did not happen at any workplace facility, and that the 7-year-old accuser was an acquaintance, and not one of Requejo’s pupils.

Police said while detectives believe this is an isolated incident, anyone with concerns, potential questions or any further information regarding Requejo is asked to call Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131. No attorney information for Requejo is listed in Fairfax County court records.
