A 28-year-old Rockville man who fled the scene of an accident in Frederick Thursday was arrested after Frederick Police found him hiding nearby.

Police charged Michael David Frazier of Block Keating Court in Rockville with failure to immediately return and remain at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury, failure to return and remain at the scene of an accident involving vehicle damage, and failure to yield the right of way on a left turn.

On June 1 at about 6:30 p.m., Frederick Police arrived at the scene of a personal injury accident, according to a city of Frederick press release. Police discovered that Frazier, who was at fault in the crash, had fled the scene.

Frederick Police Lt. Clark Pennington said he did not know how badly the driver of the car that was not at fault had been injured.

Police found Frazier hiding “in the area” and arrested him without incident, according to the release.

Police took Frazier to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, where he was treated for injuries that were not life threatening.

Frazier already had an open warrant for his arrest in Frederick County, according to the release.

Online court records show that Frazier was charged with six counts of possession and attempt to distribute heroin in 2011. Five of the charges were dropped; he was sentenced to a year and five months in prison and two years of probation for the last count, possessing heroin.

After he was released from Meritus Medical Center, Frederick Police took him to a Frederick jail for further processing.

A current lawyer for Frazier was not listed in court records. A phone number at which to reach him could not be found.
