Luxmanor Elementary School, in North Bethesda, received $5,000 for its walking club and healthy snack campaign from the Silver Diner Eat Well Do Well Challenge Grant. It was the only Montgomery County school among the six selected for the grants.

First place of $10,000 went to Pine Spring Elementary School, in Falls Church, Va., for its Bobcat Boot Camp and Fruit of the Week program. Stenwood Elementary School, in Vienna, Va., received $5,000 for its Getting Fit with Wellnet program. Three additional schools were awarded $1,000 each.

“We’re delighted to be able to help these worthwhile school programs,” said Silver Diner President, CEO and co-founder Robert Giaimo. “We strongly believe in working together with communities to keep children healthy and fit and helping to overcome obesity.”
