Devyn Jones, 16, a rising senior at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, was selected to participate in the 2013 Naval Academy Summer Seminar program.
About 2,550 students from around the nation and abroad were invited. The program, for rising high school seniors, helps educate, motivate and prepare selected students who are considering applying for admission to the academy in Annapolis.
During the six-day session, students become a part of the academy; live in Bancroft Hall, the dormitory in which all midshipmen live; eat in the dining hall; participate in academic and leadership workshops; and experience a variety of other activities on the campus. They have an opportunity to see firsthand what the academy has to offer through its academic, athletic, extracurricular activities and leadership training programs.
