Police are seeking information from the public on a shooting at a Silver Spring gas station on May 10.

At around 8:40 p.m., a 16-year-old male was shot as he walked with a group of people through the Sunoco gas station parking lot at 8875 Piney Branch Road, according to county police spokesman Capt. Jim Daly. The group was headed to a house party in the area of Quebec Terrace.

Police believe that the incident, which involved multiple gunshots, was related to gang activity, Daly said.

The teenager was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said. His current condition was not immediately available.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this shooting or the suspect(s) involved to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 301-565-5835. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.
