A 42-year-old man struck by a school bus on Darnestown Road on May 21 has died, police said.

The pedestrian, identified as Jason Alexander Estabrook of Point of Rocks, was jogging on the sidewalk adjacent to Shady Grove Road’s southbound lanes. At the intersection of Shady Grove Road and Darnestown Road, Estabrook entered the roadway, where he was struck by a Montgomery County School bus around 2:30 p.m.

Estabrook was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and succumbed to those injuries May 27, according to Montgomery County Police spokeswoman Angela Cruz.

The driver of the bus has been identified as Tugjnyam Bavaa, 58, of Rockville. The bus was not carrying any passengers and the driver was not injured. Darnestown and Shady Grove roads were closed for several hours May 21 after the accident.

According to a release from Montgomery County police, detectives are still investigating the accident.
