Diana Gough (right) of Hyattsville gives a banana to her son Carlos Gough, 6, Friday morning at Hyattsville’s Magruder Park, which was a refreshment stop for cyclists participating in Bike to Work Day, an annual nationwide event that encourages people to commute on bicycles. Gough and her son were using their two-person bike to pedal to Carlos’s school in University Park and then to Diana’s job in Adelphi.
Participants in Bike to Work Day, held today, were able to take a little break at Magruder Park this morning.
From 6:30 to 8:30 a.m., a refreshment spot, or “pit stop,” was set up at the Hyattsville park. It offered snacks and drinks to the riders.
Bike to Work days is an annual event encouraging and celebrating bikes as a clean, fun and healthy way to get to work, according to biketoworkmetrodc.org.
