The Rotary Club of North Bethesda and the Rock Creek Conservancy will host their 10th annual bicycle eco-tour through the scenic Upper Rock Creek watershed on Saturday.
The tour includes a 13-mile bike ride along the Rock Creek Trail from Viers Mill Local Park north to Lake Needwood and a picnic lunch upon returning.
Cyclists should be ready to go at 9:30 a.m. at the recreation building on Garrett Park Road near Beach Drive, just north of Garrett Park. Riders will stop at several locations along the route to learn more about the trail and creek. The route is mostly vehicle-free and includes stops at the new bike trail crossing at Veirs Mill Road and the Lake Needwood recreation area.
The tour benefits the Rotary Foundation’s scholarship program, which has sponsored almost 100 students attending Montgomery College.
The fee is $15 per rider, which includes a T-shirt and lunch. Children younger than12 ride for free.
