A Landover man died after he was allegedly assaulted in south Baltimore and the Baltimore Police Department is now seeking suspects, city police said.

Around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, Baltimore police officers responded to an assault in progress in the 1600 block of Cypress Street in the Curtis Bay area of the city, police said.

Once there, officers determined 28-year-old Cyrill Montel Holland, of the 7500 block of Greenleaf Road in Landover had been assaulted and was taken to an area hospital where he later died, said Sgt. Eric Kowalczyk, a Baltimore police spokesman.

Kowalczyk said people were interviewed on scene and officers determined that there had been a group of men fighting outside a residence and that someone had driven Holland to a hospital after the fight.

Kowalczyk said he did not know the nature of Holland’s injuries other than that he was assaulted during a fight.

Police are now investigating the homicide and seeking possible suspects, Kowalczyk said.

According to online state court records, Holland had an open warrant for three counts of second-degree assault from a June 7 incident in Anne Arundel County.

A defense attorney for Holland was not listed with the court, according to online court records.

A working phone number for Holland’s residence was not located.
