A vacant District Heights home caught fire earlier Saturday morning and Prince George’s fire investigators are now investigating.

The blaze was first reported around 5 a.m. Saturday when firefighters from the District Heights area responded to a vacant house in the 2400 block of Marbury Drive, according to fire officials.

Heavy flames were seen coming from the one-story single-family house and at one point, the entire inside of the home was consumed with fire, said Mark Brady, chief spokesman for the county’s fire/EMS department.

Firefighters initially tried extinguishing the blaze from the inside but the intensity of the fire forced them to fight the fire from outside, officials said.

No injuries were reported and the fire took about 40 minutes to extinguish.

The blaze accounted for an estimated $150,000 and fire investigators are now trying to determine a specific cause for the incident.
