Prince George’s County Councilwoman Ingrid Turner (D-Dist. 4) of Bowie was scheduled to give a $2,500 grant to aid women recovering from cancer treatment.

Turner was scheduled to officially give the grant, which comes from the $100,000 of her council discretionary fund, to the Glen Dale-based charity All Shades of Pink in a ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Friday. The public event was scheduled to occur at the Glenn Dale Community Center, located at 11901 Glenn Dale Blvd., according to a statement from her office.

The money will help launch ASOP’s Fit 4 Exercise program. That effort will provide support for women recovering from a breast cancer diagnosis to take a fitness class at a local community center for free, said Denice Whalen-White, ASOP’s founder and executive director in a statement.

“I am honored to partner with ASOP to provide this new program to help women who are recovering from breast cancer,” Turner said in a statement.
