Award-winning author Patricia Merritt Lear, a 1966 graduate of Hood College in Frederick, will be offering her insights on today’s literary trends at a reception Tuesday.
The meet and greet will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. in Hood’s Whitaker Campus Center.
Lear also will be conducting a reading and book signing from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the college’s Marx Center.
The college is at 401 Rosemont Ave., in Frederick.
When not writing, Lear is a faculty mentor at the University of Nebraska, where she teaches a fine arts and writing program.
She also is the author of several short stories. Her work has been published in TriQuarterly and The Antioch Review.
Lear also has written for the New York Times Magazine, Chicago Magazine, Allure, New City and the Chicago Tribune Book Review.
Lear’s visit to Hood is part of The Nora Roberts Foundation, which established an endowed fund to support a writer-in-residence.
