The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce honored 40 law-enforcement officers and rescue workers for going above and beyond the call of duty.
Eleven awards were presented at a breakfast March 12, with more than 300 residents attending.
The award recipients were recognized for saving lives, investigating homicides, educating students on the affects of drug abuse and addiction and risking their own lives. In particular, many performed risky water rescues during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
The 40 recipients were nominated by their supervisors, peers and a panel of chamber members.
