The Greater Maryland Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will hold its 14th annual Forget-Me-Not-Gala to help raise awareness of the disease and related disorders.

The gala will be held from 7-11 p.m. April 20, at the Holiday Inn & Conference Center, 5400 Holiday Drive, adjacent to the Francis Scott Key Mall in Frederick.

Kristen Weddle, development coordinator with the Alzheimer’s Association, said last year the couples dancing raised $60,000 and overall the event raised $85,000.

“We hope to exceed our goals through raffle sales,” she said. “We have 10 fabulous raffles.”

Weddle said tickets to Walt Disney World, Southwest airlines and several sport’s packages will be raffled off.

The money raised will go to help and provide services to families dealing with Alzheimer’s and national research on the disease, she said.

This year’s event includes a “Dancing Stars of Frederick,” competition before a panel of judges, which include Ric Adams, president and CEO of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, Susan Puhala, criminal defense attorney and founder of Puhala and English, Susan Butt, owner of Tox Path Specialists, and Matt Ruble, dispute resolution attorney and owner of Matthew B. Ruble.

The couples dancing include, John Bille and Donna Kraft; Ryan Burns and MaryBeth Luber; John Connors and Jean Peterson; Jim DeLorenzo and Julie Christiansen; Jack and Beth Green; Jason Feaga and Shannon Yospa; Waldo and Molly Harshberger; Nima and Jamie Hendi; Greg and Debbie Powell; Todd Walker and Sasha Scaun; and Bill and Chris Wilson.

The couples will dance to win trophies for the best cha-cha, salsa and tango. The couple that raises the most money will also win a special prize, “You’re Our Star Trophy.”

Event tickets are $85 per person and sponsorships are available.
